I was worried about that. The "object above her head" is actually the wall behind her.

I was trying to simulate a halway and doorway behind her with this piece. Dorway being blown out to look as though she just stepped out of a very brightly lit room, or as a male friend of mine put it. "It looks like she just stepped into a bar room straight out of heaven"

I'll have to mess with that a bit more.

I read the story behind this one in your interview. I can completely relate, being a physical athro major and all. I love this shot. It reminds me of fossils too.
