I can't really detect the different layers of snow. All kinda flat and the background is merging too closely in similarity to make distinct contrast.

I am only new to photography and the terms I have been using when commenting on peoples photos probably mean something totally different to experienced camera owners.
So let me just put this bluntly.
This image has that X-Factor.
This is one of the most eye-catching shots of the challenge and I would place it in the top 3.
