This picture would probably not have worked without the vehicles but somehow they don't seem right either. Also, the white post appearing behind the cross detracts from the cross itself. I wonder if you could have moved to the right slighty to hide it behind the cross (or perhaps you did already to hide the top of the post?). Also the item in the lower right-hand corner also drags the eyes away.

You've really put the background out of focus well, to draw the eyes to the plant. I think I would have liked more of the buds to have been in focus and ideally for you to have found a more colourful specimen.

Your figurine doesn't appear to be quite in focus and doesn't really tell a story (except where you try and add one via the title). Hopefully you didn't break your mum's favourite piece just to enter the competition.
