Snowscapeby ManicComment: A nice study in almost B&W. I like the single left tree balancing the tree line on the left. And just the right amount of sky to set the mood. The snow bits on the trunks and icing on the branches are much needed to break up the stark dark vertical and horizontal lines. Although it may not have been possible from your vantage point, I would like the man made structure to be absent ( a minor point ). Otherwise a very pleasing image. |

Cumberland Fallsby RLSComment: Now this is a photographer with a mature vision. This says volumes differently than a blazing sunrise of multi colors. Give the gritty rough edges of those boulders, the wispy tree texture of the branches and the mercurial sun dappled water anyday thank you. Really well felt rock shadows. The perfect exposure for the power of the waterfall itself and my fav rav those absolutely gorgeous brook wavelets. Thank you for including the snippet of sky in the upper left. I think that the photo would feel to dark and cramped without it. That patch of light gives breathing space and life to the image. I am sure that you will receive many other compliments and encouragement. But I will wish you a redundant good luck anyways. |

Pains Hill Cobhamby redfigComment: A very good effort. Some of my favorite elements in this image are the character of that noble pine tree, the grey shadows and tones of the river ice and the searing shafts of sun blazing in from the left. The width of the river and the chunk of pasture are quite broad. But that may be the optimun vantage point in your circumstance. There appear to be some figures lurking in the midground (?) and a hint of a structure in the background. A touch more of the human presence would not be offensive to my tastes. Although this may not have been practical or of your intent I would like to see a little more texture in the midground trees. Those are two minor quibbling points in an otherwise noteworthy image. To me this is a quiet interesting picture that will speak well to the patient viewer. I am glad that you have trodden down the B&W route instead of the nuclear hue calander attempt. Continue with your wonderful vision quest. |

Japanby KimInNBComment: This is a spectacular image. A magical delicate atmosphere emmanates from this photo. I am very impressed by the frost textures on the layers of branches contrasting so elegantly with the background evergreens. The cool haze in the distance really accentuates the mood. And the water is a lovely gentle hue that is so complimentary to the other colors in the image. A deep brooding blue brook certainly would not be appropriate. I like the accent of ice rock in the lower right corner. A nice touch of interest that anchors the eye roving down the stream. I guess you could fairly call this the " Made my first million on this calendar shot". If not that than at least endless raving reviews from other drolling envious DPC participants. A magnificent work. |

Sunglasses At Night (Cory Hart - 80's song)by khanhxComment: This is a beautiful portrait. The skin texture is superb. There is lots of darkness happening here which is key to your message. The unusual reflection in the sunglasses is a little complicated for my personal taste. I would like a more simple theme in the reflection. But that is me alone and not the other 100 voters. There is a hint of minor distraction in a different background tone beneath the chin. I would like just a litttle more breathing space beneath the chin. Although you may not agree, I think that a vertical crop and tossing away the left two thirds of the image would make an interesting outtake. Otherwise this is truly an inspiring image worthy of many compliments. Good luck! |

Romeo & Juliet Love Theme (A Time for Us)by KarenBComment: This is one of those classic image archetypes that has been popular for ages. Although I have seen this many times before, it is just like the overwhelming power of a glorious sunrise. The heart skips a beat. The visual strength of red alone shouts strong here. The touches of a single petal, the blurred music page, just three black keys against lots of white, the extraordinary lovely lighting on the rose itself, the serrated leaf edge...these are some of the elements that really pull this magnificent work together for me. I say pump your ego with at least a dozen 10's this week. Very well done! |

" She wore a pearl neckalce" ZZ Topby snsComment: This is a wonderful image. I especially like the following : Hidden thumb, encircled pearl at lower right, splash of hair, nice use of lighting on pearls themselves, chioce to use just a portion of the neck region. That being said I personally find the shadows beneath the fingers and pearls a tad harsh. I would have liked the skin texture to be a little smoother...the pores and hairs although a fact of life take away the glamour edge for me. These are just very minor complaints that really don't amount to a hill of beans for most folk ( so you can ignore them too). I really like your graphic composition. A clean technically impeccable image. This is one of my fav shots for this week. You should easily be in the top 10. Good luck1 |

FEELS LIKE HOMEby mzanoniComment: This is a lovely mood image. I really like how you worked the limited tones. Beautiful hue accents. Nice light polygons shooting across the contrasting gray horizontal wall slabs. And of course the piece de resistance, that most incredible pillar buttered with breathtaking hues. A person seated or somewhere in the frame would throw the whole concept off for me. You have captured a wonderful moment. Hope you receive lots of rave reviews. ...8 |

A Trip to the Coast by smellyfish1002Comment: This is one heck of an image. I say chuck away all those tinsel town glamour shots. And sink your eyeballs into something with real merit like this fabulous work. I am in quivering rapture from the feel of those brooding clouds, the stark two tone lighthouse, the brilliant juxtaposition of grasses and sky tones and the emphatic border. Beautiful is a sheer undestatement here. You must recieve many more compliments upon this image. It is a work of art. I am going to give you a 10 to make up for those other fools who absently knee jerk a 5 score. OK you got me grovelling for more gorgeous B&W in future challenges. I won\'t settle for anything less. Good luck! |

On The Horizontalby greenem2Comment: This is an Excellent image! Unfortunately there are DPC folk out there that will ding points off you because it is blurred, not dayglo colour, weird angle or something foolish like that. And those are the Exact reasons among many that I believe this is awonderful work. The blur fits the rush of modern travel perfectly. Your choice of angle adds drama and accentuates action. The B&W goes well with the common ratrace situation. But your vision has raised the ordinary into something extraordinary. And so you certainly deserve merit in the top ten. I hope you get many other positive comments from other voters. I am going to give you a 10 to compensate those other people who will give you the instant one second 3 vote. Please remain loyal to your fantastic insight. Your work is excellent. |
