the picture has a serene feeling to it with a wonderful subject. However i feel it lacks a certain sharpness. The colors have a brown/yellow tint to them which clashes with the freshness of the subject. Also the chair has a really old feeling to it, which doesn't match too well with the subject. As has been mentioned, the white border is catching a lot (too much) of attention. While the subject is on a line within the rule of thirds, the cutoff of the knee distracts. A little more zoomed out could have worked better as it places her in a surrounding. A different chair (fitting with the subject), more upbeat lighting and sharpness would have made a top10 with such a nice subject imo.

Not sure about the BW for this theme, pirates evoke colorful, chaotic images, this one is a bit too serene. It could work on a more abstract level, however it is not abstract enough for that. Perhaps a lone smaller boat in the middle of a giant sea would have worked better. The shadow on the right is cutoff which also distracts. Placing the subject on the first 1/3 of the picture would have improved it. The BW conversion seems OK although the black is very black and without details.

very strong image, great colors and an interesting take on the subject. composition works well, only thing which distracts for me is the arm of the chair sticking up, with this removed her own arm would come out much better. lighting looks natural and fits with the subject, skin seems a bit too smooth for me and given the subject, a bit unnatural. all props and dress work well in establishing the mood. only thing which I don't like is the expression of the model, this seems a bit dead, no emotion. This scene certainly evokes emotion and the face of the model is the natural focus point of this capture and should therefore, imo, better convey the overall mood than it does now.

An interesting pose, it works well within the challenge. I like the tonality as it reflects the mood, the BW conversion seems appropriate for the theme, although the black is a little too black for my taste as no details can be seen in it. The white highlight is slightly distracting, the more so as her gaze goes directly to it, and in turn so does the viewers. the lines in this picture are important, the off set between natural/bending and horizontal/vertical. it is therefore a pity that the floor-mat angle is not aligned with wall. All in all a very graceful capture and with a little bit of work (lighting/lines) would have been in the top10 imho.

The image is simply way overexposed and thats why it scored so low, regardless of any other intention, reading the original instructions :

1. A high key photograph is one where the overwhelming majority of the tones in the image are above middle gray (including any shadows) yet still maintains detail even in the brightest areas of the subject.

This is clearly not the case here, all details is lost in the brightest areas,which is 75% of your picture

2. Your challenge is to carefully control your lighting and exposure to capture an interesting photo that meets the above definition of "high key". Remember, "high key" does not mean "washed out" or "blown highlights".

This is the key here, careful control light and exposure. Simply a faster shutter speed, higher f stops or other light reducing features would have helped. The subject matter seems appropriate as many high key portraits were send in. Next time really read up on the subject matter and look at sample photographs, learn by example
