soft, silky, smooth....Choooocolateby subject22Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
My first impression was textures? but yes it does fit the challenge.
The composition throws me off a little, its too centered for me, I would have considered moving it further down and a close crop/shot, but again with 18-55 mm, you don't have that much control as you mention.
I like the reflection and overall the picture quality is good which usually ends up with better scores at dpc.
I also noticed from your comment that you had trouble with the speed of the chocolate and then the motion blur and I see you were shooting at 1/200s, F5.6, ISO100. Why not go higher on ISO? 400D I am sure can produce pretty clean results upto ISO400 which will give you fast enough shutter speeds and you could also trade-in some of the shutter speed for more dof if you like.

Gaurawa

MY MELBOURNE by hotpastaComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Do you really need a critique ? :)
Love the overall blue tone to the image, well composed and exposed. The moving clouds add to the picture and 'MELBOURNE' blending in is a nice touch.
If I can have a wish list: Not this wide a border, a 2x3 landscape image I would have liked more. The water was a little more smooth on the left bottom corner.
Overall an amazing image, a postcard that I would definitely I would consider buying.

The Reservoir In Central Park---New York Cityby EssAreDubyaComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
My first thought: Nothing interesting to grab my attention.
The water in the foreground attracts a lot of attention (which could be the case as your title is reservoir related), but the buildings overcome this, in essence my attention is divided between the two. Also the buildings in the background are not sharp. Water has a lot of distractions as well which could be cloned out for presentation. the color on buildings seems off and brown doesn't go very well here.
regards,
Gaurawa

Derelict Windmillby sulamkComment: back for comments: I feel there's too much happening in the picture and the windmill isn't the most focussed subject ( as the title emphasizes on ) |
