Howling Birchby StrikeslipComment: Oh, this is just weirdly enjoyable, isn't it? Must have taken years to get the tree shaped like this (from cuts? grafts? Strange occultic practices???). Good comp, B&W makes for an interesting presentation (though I see some purple fringing around some branches where the lighter sky area comes through). Exposure on the tree is very good, bringing out the right amount of detail there...just wish you'd moved a bit more to the right to get rid of that distracting bright (overexposed) sky. But overall, an interesting and very different shot. I like it! |

Scuba diverby AnandComment: I like this! Don't know if it says "scuba" to me, but it does look rather oddly human-like! Rates pretty high on the cuteness and humor scale for me, and the black and white treatment works well here. Nice one~ ;) |

Fragile Mortality by cmeierComment: Interesting concept...and how you did it must have taken a lot of thought and preparation and hard work. The exposure is absolutely perfect, the focus excellent. My only nit is that the composition seems a bit unbalanced. I think it would have been better to include some more of the dark area on the left to more equally match the area on the right, or crop some off the right. All in all, a very worthy effort! |

...Happy Anniversary Keturahby saloonstudiosComment: This image seems more sad than a celebration, but it is quite excellent nonetheless. The feeling I get is that this man is a widower remembering the date with sadness rather than joy. It is a powerful image showing the other side of celebration, which can be loneliness. It's an excellent, evocative image. Will it get the votes? Hard to say because of the iffiness of it's fitting the challenge theme, but it certainly is deserving of recognition. |

A Sister's Loveby oOWonderBreadOoComment: This is such a wonderfully touching image, though I would say it speaks more of their sibling relationship (with two very different moods here) than of "celebration". The comp is good, though a little unbalanced. Would have been nice to include a little more of the girl's head and hair but it's not a major problem. A little faster shutter speed might have helped to avoid the slight blur that's noticable on both their faces. Looks like you are working with a controlled lighting setup, so a little more practice will go a long way in getting the right shutter/aperture combination. |

Rainy Daisy Days by CNovackComment: Oh, this is such a wonderfully creative idea, beautifully executed and one that deserves a high score. I'll bet this ends up in the "how did you do that" section. My only nit is that I think it might have worked just a bit better to have included the girl's face in the shot, especially if her expression were one of joyful excitement. But just the same, it's a well conceived image that should get a good number of votes~ |
