I agree if his body were turned about 15 degrees to the right or so it would have been a little stronger.

I like this picture, it's cool the way he is framed by the hand however the hand is so large and dark it almost seems disconnected from him. Excellent lighting on his face.

Not a bad first entry overall. Having a picture below 640 on it's longest size is definately one of the fastest ways to get it shot down by voters.

The Christmas lights were a nice background effect but IMO the batteries should be lit a little better, they are too dark overall to really make them pop.

I like the concept ok but I'm not crazy about the angle or the shallow depth of field.

Edit: I'm adding to this because apparently you didn't find this comment helpful. It seems you didn't find any comments that weren't glowing helpful.

I didn't like this shot and was one of the 31 people that rated it a 4. You could have scored higher if it you had more depth of field - the bottom left battery in particular is distracting and takes away from the subject. Also the camera doesn't appear to have been very straight which makes the composition seem sloppy, a lower angle would have made the viewer feel more like they were a part of the shot an would have improved it drastically.

You have a real talent for pet portraits.

Only critique I've got is the forehead looks like it was maybe blown a bit and brought back - it seems a tad noisy.
