Sneaky rather than candid. She is asleep and the light and camera are just not fair. The motto is presumptuous. This is all interpretation. Technically it is a very nice picture, the highlight might have been slightly lower.

The problem with this picture is the load of details. In the original picture that may have been a good point, but down at 640x480 it is getting blurred. In short the picture is lacking focus on a particular point; the person that has been photographed candidly does not evoke an emotion, since we cannot see what she is relating to in particular. Technically the picture is OK, lighting, focus, but that is not what makes a good picture, it is only a starting point.

Lighting and focus are off, but the picture has great atmosphere (maybe thanks to the low light and out-of-focus). I like the combination of the very old hands, just sticking into the picture and the intensily learning child.

What is Anthony staring at and what is he staring from (what does the prominent background mean?). Composition-wise this picture is OK, but as a viewer it leaves me highly dissatisfied. It is candid, OK, but so what? The image-culture used is not universal, therefore I have the feeling that this picture is speaking only to the knowing (USA?), leaving 99% or so of the World's population in the dark. That is OK if you want to address the 1%, but I happen to belong to the other 99%.
