Smiling Eyesby FreebieComment: Nicely captured moment. However, for a portrait one goes for the eyes, they should be sharply in focus. This looks more like a well-timed snapshot. |

lines of sorrowby kenboComment: Nothing seems to be in focus here, maybe intentionally, but I find it annoying. If this picture is the best you had of that moment, you might have tried the effect of the 'unsharpen' filter in PS. |

Reachby SeekerComment: The title in combination with the flag at this point in History are working against you in a global contest. Other than that a very nice picture. |

Katherine's bridgeby robsterComment: The idea is nice, but
1) you probably had to promise Katherine that she would not be in focus, as a consequence you have a poor picture, since nothing here is in focus
2) a bridge is going from somewhere to someplace else. In this picture Katherine is not 'bridging' anything.
Any points that this picture gets go to Katherine rather than to you as photographer. |

Sitting Sixby kiwinessComment: I like the idea of the colors and the structure of the background. I don't like the lighting and the focus might have been more on the shell. All in all this is no longer 'natural' but a constructed and composed picture, so you might have had the opportunity to improve lighting and focus, I suppose. |

Putting on steam to leave the parking lot?by johnmkComment: The perspective in this picture is the fact that this is an old train on display that will never get under any steam. The visible steam is from a pipe behind the loc. Therefore I had very little choice in where to place myself, there was only one line of sight where this phenomenon was to be observed. I left in a piece to the left of the end of the track (without the usual bumper) to give the viewer a clue. There are also very visible flood lights in the grass that might have given a hint.
OK, my mistake.
