Don't Jump....

In my opinion, this would be even more effective if:

- You shuffle a little to the left, so the right foot covers the crack in the wall.
- Crop out everything but the gravel
- A thin tall aspect ratio might give a toppling feeling

And if you have the time, it might be interesting to rake the gravel to produce horizontal or vertical lines etc. Then again, it might not - hard to tell unless you try! You could probably have a play in photoshop to get the effect before you go to the bother.

Also, you could try a few different pairs of shoes.

Don't fall off if you decide to experiment again!

Superb. Brilliant effect - can't wait to read about it.

The only thing that bothers me is that it feels very, very slightly off balance. I think it's the fact that the bottoms of the central benches aren't even. A slight counter clockwise rotation perhaps. But ignore me - I think I'm just obsessed with symmetry!

Zoom effects are fun. You chose the right centre point for this one, and the end effect is nicely exposed. The neutral background also works well to keep the focus on the subject.

I'll tell you what I really like about this - the fact that the letters are individual. In most of these kinds of photos, there is a continuous line joining all of the elements. Each letter is also very crisp, and the exposure almost identical over the whole writing area - pretty tricky to achieve - very well done.

I'm not so fussed about the background etc, but it's pretty hard to avoid. A black drape behind you, and possibly one around the camera, revealing only the lens may be interesting to try - might end up with a ghostly, blurred and disembodied head by the writing.

Striking - the hot spots have worked very well in this case.

Really nice idea - I really like it. A few thoughts:

1) The forground could be a crisper, especially on the keyboard.

2) The office jumble adds to this somewhat, but it may be even more effective with just the files and lamp to concentrate on.

3) Some kind of diffuser and a low power bulb on the lamp would lower the highlights on the files and make the laptop screen really glow.

3) Not sure, but it might be more effective to display the picture full screen without any of the Windows bits. If you want to do this, and don't know how, you can open it (as jpg) in an internet explorer window, then hit F11. If you are on XP service pack 2, you might also need to right click on the toolbar at the top and select auto-hide. You may be a computer whiz, so don't feel patronized if you already knew how!!
