A tiny Assassin hiding in Queen Anne's Laceby bbower1956Comment: Originally posted by MaryO: I don't think I've ever photographed one from above. I always go for the side view, for some reason. Maybe 'cuz the curve in the tail makes the bug look very oddly formed from this perspective. But that's OK; it's an Assassin Bug, and they're weird-looking from any angle. Nice macro :-) |
This was taken straight on at him. Those are his front legs. He would fit on your pinky nail. |

Hoverfly on Chicoryby bbower1956Comment: With insects, and tiny ones at that, you can't really get them to cooperate and pose where you want them to for as long as you would like. |

Hoverfly on Chicoryby bbower1956Comment: Yeah, I will never understand giving a 1 ever unless it did not even come close to meeting the challenge. |

Hoverfly on Chicoryby bbower1956Comment: My highest rated photo ever! Thanks all for the comments! This is a photo stack of 8 photos using the Helion Focus Bracket Tube, a tripod, and remote. Then the photos were merged using Helicon Focus. Here is an image for scale from last year. I was not photo stacking last year. Message edited by author 2018-08-08 00:15:37. |

...When Covered In Dewby bbower1956Comment: Thanks all! This is my first! It is a stack of 37 images taken with the Helicon FB Tube. It is an extension tube that is programmed with your phone to take a picture and then zoom in by a certain number of steps before the next picture. You start at the nearest point, and using Live View, stop at the farthest. Then Helicon Focus handles the stacking. Lightroom to adjust levels, etc. |

Black Eye Joeby riksnakeComment: Little soft focus on the nose. I do a lot of macro so I know how hard this is to get the eyes and nose is focus. Still a great shot! 8 |
