| 10/10/2002 05:59:00 AM | Why Is Everyone So Lazy??by vestanpanceComment: This isn't the best shot technically, mainly due to things like the tree impeding the shot and the people that draw the eye away from the central subject. However, those points may be valid, but the pictures message is really loud and clear. Yes, it does make you think 'Lazy – insert expletive here' and therefore the shot holds its own purely from the message side of things. The things I have mentioned don't make this a bad shot - I really like the way you have taken your idea and made it work – but I do feel a change of angle or cropping could have added a little. Keep shooting, this is great workâ€Â¦ (9) |
| 10/01/2002 07:08:00 AM | wineby whobeeComment: Superb colour – you can almost feel the alcohol punching you in the face. Great use of DOF. I quite like the composition, but I think that the unintentional diagonal line in the bottom left draws the attention away from the central subject. A completely black background – I feel – would have focused more power onto the centre of the glass turning a really great shot into a bombshellâ€Â¦ (8) |
| 10/03/2002 05:36:00 AM | yellow cabsby BeeGeeComment: This shot works really well. All those diagonal lines add drama and movement to the shot. Nice capture. The colours are perhaps a little weak, but that's just a nit pick. (9) |
| 10/02/2002 05:54:00 AM | Sky Reflectedby jmattysComment: Superbly done; love the clashing shades on the right that just punch their way out of the picture. And the fantastic angle chosen for the shot pushes the diagonal drama lines just enough to compliment the rest of the image. Superb workâ€Â¦ (10) |
| 10/01/2002 06:22:00 AM | Fresh Harvestby GraciousComment: This is a fantastic shot so don't take this the wrong way. I don't think the reflection is strong enoughâ€Â¦ The colours in this shot is sublime, the composition can't be faulted, it's beautiful, the symmetry is relaxing and this would look just fantastic hanging on an unadorned cream coloured wall. BUT, the colander just doesn't work in the challenge context; but this is just so good a shot I feel like a pedantic old fuddy-duddy for saying soâ€Â¦ But there is a reflection thereâ€Â¦ (9) Great shotâ€Â¦ and I really wanted to score this 10â€Â¦ |

| 10/04/2002 04:40:00 AM | Seeing It for the First Timeby mjcecilComment: Great idea, very good shotâ€Â¦ Although the picture is well composed, sharp as a knife and the DOF is perfect, I don't – personally – think the shot works too well in B&W. The reflection doesn't carry much power; the shades of grey within the reflection seem to darken into a babble of unidentifiable shapes. I think, had you used colour, this wouldn't have happened. It would be interesting to see a colour version after the challengeâ€Â¦ Other than that, the way you have chosen to do the shot works very well indeedâ€Â¦ (8) |
| 09/30/2002 08:07:00 AM | Just Duckyby TerryGeeComment: I had to laugh, my first thought – it's a duck that thinks it's a dog, but couldn't find a treeâ€Â¦ Great work; lousy title :o) (10) |
| 10/03/2002 01:22:00 AM | One Dog Over Allby pauldComment: This is a great idea, and if I'm not mistaken, that looks remarkably like an Airedale Terrier. There are a few odd line distortions, and perhaps the colour saturation is a bit weak, but the shot carries drama and beauty, almost like seeing into the dogs dream. I love the pose; it's very much a look of exploration, like he/she is looking for something – this add to the overall effect. Great capture (8) |
| 10/02/2002 01:32:00 AM | Jack Russell Reflectionsby OakleyComment: Including a pet in a picture will often kill a shot stone dead if it isn't absolutely perfect. But, you have hit the challenge full in the face. The composition couldn't be better, the lighting is perfect and the dog's pose and expression are both spot on target. The reflections in the water are superb and you have captured a mood of calmness in the shot that works really well. Great shooting (10) Good luckâ€Â¦ |
