while it's a good photo overall, it's kind of shoehorning it into the challenge.

Begins the night...3rd Place

the photo is gorgeous, but I think the title would better serve the challenge if it was the "beginning of the end of day", since this is a "beginning of the end" challenge.

I like how you lined up the railing with the horizon, but there seems to be something missing from the photo. Maybe someone standing at the end of the pier to draw us in further.

Through the Rain

Through the Rain3rd Place

Comment:
The premise is really good, and the woman is gorgeous, but there's something offsetting about the photo. The "rain" looks like it's droplets sprayed on a sheet of plexiglass and positioned in front of the woman. The focus is on the droplets and not the woman, which draws the eye away. Additionally, there looks like there's some sort of haze or reflection in front of her on the top half of the photo.

All in all, good effort, but It could be better.

MO.

I want to add that I've always loved your work - I think you're an exceptional photographer, but this one just looked a bit forced.

yeah - I actually used to only shoot in RAW, but for some reason my new computer (MAC) won't open them in Photoshop. I don't know if it was a CS2 issue or something else, but I'm hoping CS3 will solve the problem.

I don't really get the point of this. Also, the border is quite distracting.

One good vote deserves another - though I doubt my tiger will finish as high as yours did. Doesn't have the pull that yours does, but I appreciate the vote and the comment all the same.

DOF is too tight. Try opening it up a bit.
