Lensbaby?? Great effect and great exposure on a tricky night shot. Use of the selective focus bringing the eye to the ride entrance is brilliantly done.

I hope more people see it, but getting the reflection of the gold wrapper onto the childs face, just like Charlie when he opened the wrapper - as well as the exact blue turtleneck - quite a feat. GREAT job!

Dog at the Beach

Don't worry about playing by the rules to make a good picture, this is a great photo in my opinion.

The DOF is on the sand just in front of the dog - its working for the photo in that the texture is the main immediate focus. You have GRIT and a lot of it. THEN you see the dog, looking slightly menacing (one eye, matted fur?) or maybe playfull (flying sand, wet fur?)- but your not given enough information because of the crop. This makes it interesting in creating a sense of "Whats really going on here?". It has the same curiosity inducing effect on the viewer as a knowing smile on a portrait with no outside explanations given. I found myself looking for MORE in the photo. Trying to pick out more details from the background to make more sense.

So, played by all the "rules". No, and it worked out wonderfully. :)

Its dark, its moody, its sparkly dark vampire-mermaid land kind of good. I like it a lot, yet... an explanation of why completely eludes me. Very very nice. Favoriting.

Oh! The DOF works incredibly well here, you kept a lot of the hairy texture in focus with making the bee look too overwhelming. Good job.

I really like the use of blue tones here. Its cool, but the composition and subject matter is comfortable without being too cozy. The small splashes of color really work to bring out the textures even in the glowy atmosphere. Excellent.
