Untitledby ladibugComment: You might have titled this "boot sucking mud". I like the brown and the blue colors and the way the big puddle almost melts in to the like-colored sky near the horizon. The model is hard to make out, but she appears to be standing on one leg, possibly because she has lost her boot to the mud on the other side of the pond. :) |

Join me in the land of mysteryby NeatComment: This may not score well with voters who just give it a quick look. I like the effect, but I have only come to that appreciation after several viewings. The more defined tree in the foreground is enhanced by the brighter stand in the middle of the frame. It does look mysterious. :) |

Seawolf Parkby cowtownmomComment: I like this composition. The colors are bit muted for my taste. Would like to see bluer sky and water. I'd be tempted to consider cropping the white building on the left and the point on the right, but I like the width the way you have it. |

RT68-MD-75 MPHby medinfo2000Comment: if this is through a windshield, I applaud your glass cleaning skills. I wish the horizon was a bit further from the center. The sky seems more appealing than the asphalt in the foreground, so I might have gone for 2/3 sky and 1/3 highway. |

suburban riverby jbirkmanComment: I like the blue water, which provides a nice contrast to the dingy white cement and brown scrub brush. Too bad there wasn't more water running through to provide a cleaner look to the "river" because that blue is wonderful. |

paintingby omikeoComment: This is a bit dark on my monitor, but I like the painted look. The tan foliage in the center provides a good focal point. Composition is good to my eye, but I wish the whole thing was just a bit lighter. |

The Watcher (Did you lock YOUR door tonight?)by PatrolComment: Well, it is dark. I'm not sure about this one. It feels like the vertical opening is too centered in the crop. Something more interesting in the doorway would enhance this picture, IMO. Also, I'd move the crop over so the door is more to the left of the frame, leaving the light washing over the carpet across the right. In so doing, the shiny glare on the top left would be lost, which I think would be a help as well. |

I´ts my favorit time to take pictures....by Aron5109Comment: Feels like a good use of negative space, but I can almost make something out in the background, which makes me wonder if you could see that on your monitor. Excellent model and great lighting on the face. I really like this one. |

Icey bloom.jpgby maurice1Comment: Great idea for a photo! The "icey bloom" does not appear to be the main focus point in this pic, however. The leaves in the middle of the pic seem to be most in focus. The color of the yellow blossom makes it a natural draw for the eye, but it seems secondary to the focus in this. Perhaps a different angle and a closer shot of the smallish blossom would improve a great concept. I like the ice on the leaves, and with those more in the background of the flower shot, I think this picture would provide some real visual interest. Keep shooting!

Bayooby JiaBobComment: Thank you to everyone who commented on my picture. Bayoo is an Oscar. He will soon be 2 years old, and he lives by himself in a 75 gallon aquarium with an Eheim canister filter and an Acquaclear HOB. Bayoo loves to eat red Hikari pellets. The biggest ones they make. He also likes worms and fake crab meat. I don't give him anything else.
My challenge photo was lit with aquarium lights (I have a standard fluorescent bar that spans the tank and a brighter fluoro setup that is designed more for planted tanks so the light is brighter). With fish pics, you pretty much have to top light to avoid the room glare on the glass. I did very little by way of post processing, and according to at least one of the comments, more might have improved my score. I will have to work on my digital darkroom skills. CS Elements (2.0) may be the lightweight little brother of the PS family, but it is still pretty complicated for me. Anyway, thanks again to everyone who commented.
