Fans Howl Over New Stadiumby trnqltyComment: Try to remember (in most cases) cropping top and bottom to equal distances from the focal point give the best look. Pull the bottom edge up to about 1/4 inch below the sign legs and this becomes a much nicer image. Like the headline and the combo works well. |

Visual Pollution to be banned!by neehaiComment: Not sure I get it, it seems like a stretch to meet the challenge and I can't imagine seeing this in a newspaper. Interesting idea though. |

Busted!by BassieComment: Poor headline, bad composition, too dark, out of focus, lucky shot. Minimal basic editing could have improved this, and a decent headline (topical, specific, active) would have convinced me to rate it higher despite the quality issues. Crop out the guy's hand on the left, and maybe even the cop on the right, brighten and increase the contrast, see if you can sharpen at all, though you really should deal with that issue when you take the shot. |

Local man found dead after hit-and-runby animes2kComment: LUCKY. You got to a crime scene, but your composition is poor here. I would suggest either cropping the body out (the partial streetsign in the top corner is distracting and the feet are already cut off anyway) or next time choosing to move your focus to include only the cop and the body so both are fully visible. |

What Was He Thinking?by jmsetzlerComment: While a nice shot, you didn't make an effort with the headline. Try something topical and specific, like "Infections on the Rise in Local Tattoo Parlors" or "New Asian Influence in Urban Culture" |

Gas Prices All Pumped Upby phroggtrappComment: Nice image, but not really evocative of the prices. I'm in the middle on this one, it doesn't seem like it would make it past an editor, but it's a nice shot. |
