Sunflowersby SonifoComment: I am being honest and straight forward - Not to offend. I think this an excellent idea, technically great, I love the color and sharpness of the flowers. But, personally I don't like the wood. I know there is probably some strong reason for using the wood as a background, but for me it doesn' work as well as something else...then again I do like the texture of the wood and the fact that you did you something other than just black or white...OH what do I know, I can't even make up my mind...I think I've been commenting too long today :-0 Great work 7 Ruthann |

Spilt Lightby AmphianComment: (i'm only making quick comments for scores 8+, sorry) Nice work. Yes, the neg space impacts the image....if instead of black, it was pink..it wouldn't really work. 8 Ruthann |

Sit - Stayby daysezComment: I'm being straight forward - NOT to offend. I think I understand what you were going for, but I don't think it works for this. The goal is to use the neg space to emphasize the subject. In this case, the neg space does not do that, in fact I think it takes away from the subject. The dog is beautiful, the colors in the photo are also great. I'm not getting a wow...I think, ok, there's a dog...I'm not getting any feeling - I think there is tooo much neg space. Using neg space to emphasize the subject, does not necessarily mean use a lot of neg space, sometimes the smallest amount of neg space will create a larger impact for the subject. What is it about the neg space that you are trying to use to bring out the subject? Is it the green of the grass and the contrast to the dog? What would it look like at a different angle--like placing the camera on the ground... please do not misinterpret my comment - I'm just being honest and trying to be helpful. Ruthann |

Seven Linesby mcmurmaComment: I love this GREAT shot. Great work My favorite thing is the colors (are the walls really that color?). The lighting is great - especially the shadows. I think the colors create a nice sort of peaceful atmosphere - as opposed to a b/w that may make it more dismal and perhaps depressing. This is so clean. I find it amazing how you were able to turn this ordinary, usually unobserved portion of the room into an amazing pic. Excellent!!! 10 Ruthann (updated) |

Blew itby FrooberComment: Great work Great pun on words - witty. Yes, the neg space definately affects the impact of this image. (was there tweaking of the colors, I sense that the trash can area is slightly blue - this does not affect the score, more for my own learning) 9 Ruthann (Updated) |

Contrastsby GraciousComment: EXCELLENT - can I say WOW, Great lighting and composition. As I look at this, I think, does the neg space emphasize this....YES, it is what really makes this pic work. On one hand, I think that the marbles(?) should be more equal...but on the other hand they don't - the unevenness (if that's a word) brings a little more personality to the pic. Wonderful job!! 10 Ruthann One of my TOP TOP 10, would give this an 11 If I could (updated) |

Fiddler on the Roofby tlalondeComment: GGGGREAT shot! Perfect composition. Great contrast. As I look at this, I say...yes, the negative space emphasizes the subject. It's emotional and I get the sense of peaceful. TREMENDOUS Work!!! 10 Ruthann (updated) |
