Rounded Holes Of War...by frozensunComment: Good idea and composition is good. You certainly needed something other than just the plain wall for this shot, but I'm not sure a person was the best choice. Or maybe it's just the pose... yeah, I don't think this particular pose works. Not sure what I would suggest - maybe something a little less direct to the camera. With that pose I'm not really sure what the subject is, the holes or the guy. |

18 inch rimsby shutterflyComment: I like the high contrast. Composition is pretty good, too. But focus seems a little off on the front tire. |

Round and Round andby Girl from OZComment: Good job with the dof - I like how the light is concentrated on the in-focus area. Tones are good, too. Not the most breathtaking subject, however. |

The Light Houseby swaroskjiComment: Tough exposure here, and the DPC rules really limit what you can do about it. Composition is excellent although the sun brings my eye away from the lighthouse. |

Saver Lifeby SonifoComment: Certainly one of the more intersting shots this week. I really like the color gradient of the background between the top and bottom. I think a shot like this does need some sort of border, but this particular border seems to take it a bit too far. |

Circle Star Saluteby MeccaComment: Come on, I've seen some blurry pics on this site, but this takes the cake. Ever hear of a tripod?!?!
Just kidding - this is one of my favorites this week. Composition is excellent and the movement of the camera is steady. It makes for a unique, well-executed shot. |

Another Cold Oneby millerComment: Thanks everyone for the comments. This was a pretty simple setup. The only light was from a 55 watt desk lamp with a cardboard cone I made to direct the light. After I got the exposure down, it was just a matter of pouring the beer over and over again until I got something I wanted. I probably took close to 75 shots. I chose this one because I felt that the full glass shots I had lost some detail due to the dimension limits here. I used flat beer because if I poured it straight out of the can the foam would block all the light.

Blue Bottleby barahooComment: This looks like a pretty nice shot, but at such a small file size, I can't really tell... Good colors and reflections. But when you resize, set the longest edge to 640 pixels. |

Beach Breakby crabappl3Comment: Nice shot. I like the backlighting and how it causes the spray to be in contrast to the rocks behind. But I'm also thinking it might have been nice to see some more of the rock texture. Those people could get lost, but hey, you can't have everything. |

Beautyby AlexysComment: I'm not sure what you mean by beauty here... If you're calling this beautiful because she's your child and therefore a beautiful thing, I guess I can see that. If she's supposed to be looking at something beautiful and is captivated by it, that's a possibility, but I can't see enough in the reflection to be sure. If, as I suspect, you're saying this girl is beautiful, well, I can't really tell. The sunglasses hide a significant part of her face, the composition isn't really flattering and as someone who is left to guess at the intentions of this photograph, it seems to me you took a picture of your daughter (sister, granddaughter, whatever) on the beach and picked a word starting with "B" so you could make it fit the challenge.
You did a good job controlling the exposure, but this shot does not say beauty (in the traditional sense) to me. |
