Big Baby Bluesby spidermanComment: you know you've shot a piece of crap when 95% of the non-insect entries get a higher score than your entry --- oh well, never underestimate the power of large numbers of ... |

Still Life Gone Wrong by wayne9232Comment: very nice shot - background & border match very well - only critique would be the lighting reflections -- most interesting to me are the comments so far - this being the week of the "insects" challenge and the broohaha about the spider entries, of the comments you have so far there are 5 that correctly identify the interloper as a rat while 7 misidentify it as a mouse - says something about how we should consider our audience and their perceptive skills when we choose our subjects |

Overcomeby spidermanComment: oops - forgot to enter my "ignore this entry" post before the CC got here - so here goes
as you may have seen on the boards after this challenge deadline came and went, i started the thread "ALWAYS CHECK YOUR IMAGE BEFORE YOU SUBMIT IT" -- i was in PS6, tweaking the red channel on the layers tab, when i got the image looking exactly like i wanted
the trouble was, in that view, the image displayed is b/w (which is what i wanted) - but when i hit SAVE it put all the channels back together - WITHOUT changing the view!!! as far as i knew right then, i had a 'perfect' b/w shot ready to download - which is what i did
imagine my horror when, after the 1st votes started coming in, i saw what people were voting on

Under the Wharfby spidermanComment: Gordon correctly feels that this shot is oriented incorrectly - 180* - but i liked it like this --- in hindsight, should have included more water, but i couldn't make it back down to the beach in daylight to reshoot before the deadline :( |

Creationby spidermanComment: my intent was to have just the eggs in the shot , spot-lit from front-right for the "crescent moon" effect --- lens flare was accident, and i reshot the pic with the light blocked out --- but when i looked at the final results, i liked the flare more than the rest |

Manhattan Beach Januaryby spidermanComment: the day before i took this, i would NOT have needed to use PhotoShop to get the same colors - unfortunately, i was about 3 minutes too late to get the shot i wanted, so it was wait wait wait until the next day to see if i would get the same opportunity --- the answer was NO, CHUCKO -- so i'll take the next-best shot and tweak it, and that's what you see here (a PS to 'jerrft', under the right circumstances, the water reflects the color above it - have a look!) |

Pretty as a Pictureby RLSComment: weirdly UN-even thickness of inner border distracted me, and it's takes a whole lot of distracting to pull attention away from the purty flowers 8-1=7 |

It Never Gets Oldby ChuckieComment: way too over-sharpened, as evidenced by the square & angular artifacts and the zigzag in the high-contrast diagonal lines 4 |
