Oh yeah, I like your picture, the textures are great.
But I don't really like the black bars at the top and bottom.
Sorry, but they don't enhance the picture in any way.
Well, at least not for me :-)

If the picture isn't "right" to start with, then it doesn't matter what PP you do.
At least that's what I've found.

I nearly always use the channel mixer to convert to B&W.
Basically, if I can't get the picture to look good using that method, then I won't bother with it at all
!!
I know there are other methods out there that I should and could use, but I just don't feel like learning them at the moment.
I think my brain is getting too full :-)

Anyway, one "trick" I've been shown is to click on the channels tab and then to individually click on the red, green and blue tabs.
Whichever one of those tabs makes my picture look the most like how I want it to look is the channel that I pay most attention to in the channel mixer.

That is, if the blue channel is closest to what i want my picture to look like, then I will have a higher percentage of it selected in the channel mixer.

Oh yeah, don't forget to click back on the RGB channel before you go and convert, otherwise the channel mixer won't be available to you.

I hope this helps.
If you have any questions, you can PM me.

It looks as though you need a drink or a cigarette or something!
Or maybe that's why you are shaking so much?

Ha, just kidding :-)
how good is it that we (photographers) can take a shaky picture and call it abstract art?
The funny thing is that this shot actually works just like that.
good deal.

at least you had an interesting view!
and they let you take a camera into jury duty?
I expect a picture of the judge tomorrow :-)

(nicely converted by the way.)

sneaky!!!!

but the off center of the two openings is really interesting.
I'm not sure I like the purple(?) cast.
I think I would prefer more white.
But maybe that is the real color of it?
In which case, tell me to shut up and mind my own business!!!!

good motion blur capture with just enough of the action showing so you are able to tell what it is.
mine never come out like that!!

DAY 24. B&W. bus driver & reflections ...

it took me a second to see the arm and wheel.
but that doesn't matter.
what matters is that I really like reflection shots.
although i never seem to be able to pull them off myself, i still find myself looking for them when i go out shooting - puddles, windows, even shiny granite grave stones!!!
this one is great in the fact that you have a wide range of tones and the bus window breaks the reflection up into smaller windows and frames.
Cool-(not Kewell, the Australian footballer who plays for Liverpool and came on as a sub yesterday in the Champions League final but still lost!!!)

Sorry, my turn to ramble today :-)

Cool shot.

You should ask if you can attach your camera to it and use a remote control to take some pictures :-)

I find it hard to get lighting correct also.
it must be the hardest thing to do in photography!

I think the problem you have here is that the paper is so white and her hair is so dark, that you aren't going to be able to expose both properly.
it's just like taking a picture of a shadowed house in the middle of the day-you'll either get the sky perfectly exposed, but the house will be a silhouette or the other way round.

The only way I can see round your problem would be to have another light shining on her hair, whether that be an extra flash or a reflector reflecting the sunlight there.

anyway, that's what I think, but i'm certainly no expert :-)
