Nikon Refractionsby banmornComment: i voted this a six, and to be honest, it was one of the hardest to judge. i love the whole concept of this image; the way the camera takes a small percentage in terms of area of the total shot and the orange background is all very appealing. the bokeh (i learnt that here!) works very effectively complimenting the foreground beautifully. and the diagonal placement of the glass stem thing is creative and adds another sense of dynamism to the shot. unfortunately, all this good work and creativeness is lessened somewhat by the soft focus of the camera (albeit unavoidable due the the curves in the glass). maybe if the camera was even further away? it could also do with being set off against a nice simple black border. still, creative, appealing, and a very likeable entry. |

Family Portrait (1920's style)by MichaelsinkComment: voted this with a 4. i think the "1920's style" concept would have been more effective if it was monochrome, or sepia or somesuch. it also feels a messy photograph in terms of set up, and lessens the impact as a result. maybe having fewer pieces of kit in the frame (such as just the two canon SLRs?) might make it more balanced. it also feels tilted, and the sigma flash looks odd pointing upwards. there just feels to be too much here. |

Meet The Familyby hotpastaComment: voted this a six. it's technically really good; most of it is nice and sharp and it's also nicely lit. however, composition feels a bit cluttered and claustrophobic. and regrettably, it feels overall, to me, a bit flat and lifeless. it's because i feel disconnected with it; maybe i think a portrait should convey something about the subject? still, meets the challenge, and technically grand. so a 6. |

Art worksby h2Comment: i gave this an eight. generally, there is a lot to like and appreciate with this picture. the ornateness of the frame is super, the use of an easel fits, and the plain background (both behind and in the mirror) work well. I especially like how you're utilising the mirror as a key subject of the picture and composition. i do like where the camera is in terms of positioning in the mirror, but i am not too keen on how the camera is tilted on to it's side; just doesn't feel right in terms of being a natural, erm, pose. also the colours (a sort of yellowy pink) the tint the whole image kind of detracts from it's naturalness. still, i think it deserves a solid eight. |

My Kodakby sallyjo1Comment: this is a very disorientating photograph, and bit tricky to fully appreciate. it looks as if it is upside down, and coupled with not flipping the shot, it all kind of makes me feel a bit queasy! the focus is also not really sharp enough and there appears to be an abnormally high level of noise. 3. |

nikon at workby ananddpComment: this is pretty cool stuff; i love how you've set this up, and how the painted screaming bloke looks like it's you. this is so creatively clever! the bulb is a little off putting and doesn't really fit into the style of the shot (for me, anyway) but that aside i think this really rocks. will also add that the greyscale is brilliantly well done; how (bulb excluded) everything is white free is really effective and compliments the painting/poster in the background. good level of noise too! 9. |

Photo, Videoby Joey LawrenceComment: my sixth and last ten of the challenge. this is a fantistically humourous and bizarre photograph and a wonderful concept. the camera on the tv thing is genius on it's own, but to set it up in such an environment takes a certain sort of evil cunning that would seriously concern 007. composition is fantastically effective; even to the nth degree with the camera doing a rule of thirds thing on the TV screen! it's a marvellously wonderful and creative image, and i hope it will get a ribbon / honrouable mention. |

Shattered Selfby acrotideComment: gave this a super juicy 10! can only imagine the fun you had setting this up, and it's such a dynamic example of what you can do with a mirror. i would suggest that you should have been brave enough to flip the image (which i'm sure at least 50% of the other comments say, so i wished i didn't) but it doesn't really detract. i think it's a great bit of abstract, and definitely one of my top 5. |

Half Moonby Vapor63Comment: for me, a 6. i liked the concept you were going for, but it feels a bit unbalanced. maybe the grip is a bit too illuminated in comparison with the rest, because i really do like how otherwise only the edge of the lens and a bit of the lettering is showing. i'd also be tempted cropped more off the left i think, maybe encroaching part of the lens itself? dunno, just a thought. |

who me....?by Car54Comment: gave this a 6. i liked principally the elongated diagonal sort of distortion in the photo, the angle it's taken from (well, angle of the reflective surface) and the subtle discreet secret agent posture of you taking it - the fact that you're not using the view finder enhances this. the paving makes for a captivatingly stylish patterned background, but the overall effect is ruined a bit by the persons feet encroaching the top of yur frame. as a photo though, i really like it. |
