Come Homeby scarbrdComment: technically i like this a lot; from the thumbnail it didn't look all that promising, but upon viewing the image you really do get to see the nice intricacies. i love how you are utilising the frame so effectively, and using the water on the glass as a way to generate the softness in the picture. the things that don't really sit right is the amount that is too out of focus, basically the stuff going on below her nose. i think if she wore something it might have given more definition for shapes and colour. and i don't know, i feel i need to see a hand somewhere? i like that part of the moisture is wiped away for her to see (nice touch that). i don't like how her lipstick really clashes with the wood of the frame. but overall, this is creative, inventive and likeable! 7. |

Red Baretby kwaniComment: obviously, your model is stunningly gorgeous - which probably means half the work is done for you in this case ;) the mix of the soft focus and the near depth of field is really effective and adds a very real sense of physical depth and distance to the picture. i'm in two minds about the horse; it's a bit weird to have him in this sort of shot, but then horses are very dream-esque sort of creatures, and that, i suppose, again suits the soft focus. also not entirely sure about the pose; seems more street attitude than the country girl peasant the attire and environment would suggest... just my interpretation i suppose. i also like that hat; the inclusion of the splash of red works for me against whites and greens. visually very appealing; 9.
ps: i'm not going to join the hordes and mention the spelling of beret, i'm too nice to do that :) |

Right as Rainby lil_moComment: as a piece of photographic art, i like this a lot. it is a great shot of america, and has an almighty sense of dated realness in a 1970's polaroid kind of way... whether or not it's good for this particular challenge, i am not entirely sure. in some respects, the focus seems either a bit too sharp (the lamp posts, for example), or where it doesn't, seems too out of focus to be considered soft (traffic lights and trees). but i like it! i like the splashes of gold on the left, the shiny areas on the tarmac, the droplets on the glass. so much character, so much to look at. so 7 overall. |

Plane Shadow and Rainbowsby mattjComment: this is a weird image - i've never seen or even heard of this rainbow phenomon. to be honest, i think i might be more impressed with the picture if it were just of the land mass, the plane feeling somewhat of an unattractive distraction. sorry. 4. |

Soft Brideby idnicComment: really nice portrait, though it does feel a little dark and grey for my own tastes. but credit is due for great composition, and for capturing the bride in a great motion-esque pose. the background sets the whole thing off very nicely. it's quite the captivating image - 9. |

Hovering Dreamby macrothingComment: oh, this is lovely. and the soft focus is used subtly and really effectively here, with a certain style that really brings out the image. it's beautiful; definetly has immediate wow impact. though, the more i study it, the more that it feels it isn't entirely natural - there is something i can't place that is not quite right about the middle taller flowers... the background is lovely, really compliments the colours of the subjects. 9. |

This frog BETTER turn into a prince!by walrus451Comment: i really like this, though my only wish is that we were a bit closer to the action regarding the kissing the amphibian bit. the fact that the kid is looking up makes me feel that you could almost dispense with the lower third of the image, and maybe crop the top centimeter, making it more panoramic / film like possibly? the colours are so rich; i love the autumnal colours with the diffused glow of the backgrounds... it's really a marvellous picture, funny, cute, and mystical too. 10. |

Telekinesisby TallblokeComment: in two minds about the discolouration of the picture, but i do love the style overall. her facial expression is very much like one of those creepy kids sitting at the back of class who's evil thoughts to the kind old geography teacher that subconsciously comes true, resulting in a tragic accident often involving a bell tower. basically, this shot is steeped in potential story and has much character. technically, there's the aforementioned choice of colour, and also the background blur feels a little forced. that aside though incredibly likeable and good fun. 8. |

The magic featherby TUBORGComment: i gave this one a ten. the overall effect of the shot is fantastic; it has such a high quality feel about it, and is really elegant in a tragi-greek kind of way. costumes are brilliant. the effort and attention to detail obvious. couple of minor composition quibbles; it does feel a little cramped within the frame, and it is also impossible to tell if the feather is a woah! monster size job balancing on the girls hand, or a small feather floating down towards them with her reaching out to catch it. but neither point detracts from the overall stonkiness of the picture. fantiastic stuff. |

Threads Illustrated: "What Does a Christian Look Like?"by 777STANComment: totally perplexed by this, given that it beholds no magic and frankly hardly steeped in mystery as i would have thought the question is pretty much unanswerable; you can't have a specific looking member of any organised religion. the set up is just weird - bloke in a hat behind a red bit of timber doesn't really suggest any religious questions at all. and if this is what a christian looks like, isn't it racial stereotyping? |
