Blue Jeanby nutzitoComment:
Despite some technical imperfections, I thought this would do better.
Unfortunately, although the topic was perfect for massive participation, this was a members only challenge, which rises the "competing vs judging" issue.
Those 834 views during voting somehow speak for the non-members vs the 189 votes received from members.
Not really...I clicked it to see a chick's butt...photographically, I'd have given it a 6...which was the average. |

Ringlight Eyesby nephotoComment: Needs more 'POP' to really stand out from the rest. A higher crop would also help to bump this up a few notches. |

50feet.jpgby deapeeComment: heh...you gotta remember, if you move the front sight down a millimeter, at 50 feet, you're going to be off by a few inches. |

Overkillby MarkComment: OK I really like this photo.
The composition could probably be a bit better for my taste, personally. For example, my mind just seems to see things better in the 3:2 format or whatever...or as long as it's a bit wider than it is tall, it seems to help me out. Take your browser and make the top shorter, bring it down so just about 1/3 of the paper hole is showing...and it just looks much stronger to me and holds my attention and focus better.
Anyway, what I like the best is the tones...You really got a nice conversion to black and white here and in order to do that, you gotta nail the exposure, which you seem to have done perfectly.
I think what makes a nice black and white photo is the right amount of darks and lights, which in your staples, especially, they look just right.
So anyway, nice photo, nicely executed, good composition, and perfect exposure. Keep shooting bro. |

Card Tricksby NobodyComment: I like the shot and the lighting, but the border thing doesn't work for this one IMO |

Creepby soupComment: That looks pretty good, but open that aperture up and use a flash for some fill. For the best DOF, you'll want to stop that lens down to like f/16 or around there. |
