Thanks for all the positive critiques.

But I don't understand the "seriously weak link to the challenge" comment. It is a photo of egrets mating. It is the beginning of a new life.

This phot is unbelievable. I couldn't tell it was a zoo shot but I would love to have been the photographer.

I know it isn't luck, it is deserved. When I would get a rare shot I would tell people I was lucky. But after thinking about it, I paid my dues by shooting every chance I got, so I deserved (earned) the photograph.

Congrats.

OK, all we can figure was that the hand is holding a piece of glass. the eye is a reflection and the edges of the glass were cloned out.

I made a few changes based on the critiques from everyone. It does look much better. I uploaded it to my portfolio.

Also I uploaded some of my Louisiana photos.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Thanks for all the feedback. The photo is pretty much a straight shot. I cropped and desaturated.

As for if it fits the challenge, the ideas is that the ship is anchored due to the fog. So the implication is that the ship's crew is "passing time" waiting for the fog to lift.

The shot was at the Bonnet Carrie Spillway in Norco, Louisiana on the Mississippi river.

The bird is an egret. I tried to get a closer shot but he wasn't happy with that and flew away.

I agree that I probably should have taken the stick out but I didn't notice it until I saw it in the comments. That is why I joined this site was for the feedback.

This was my first real submission and it was very exciting. I think I'll try it again. :-)

Thanks again for taking the time to critique this photo and for all the positive comments.
