looks like a lot of jpeg artifacts.. after taking the original shot as a jpeg, when you begin editin try saving first as an uncompressed tiff file, and then save only your final image as a Jpeg

thanks a lot for all your kind comments, yes,our 12-old beagle is unbearably cute and mo-o-o-o-ost photogenic... now i have to decide what to do for the current "pets and their people" challenge, we have three dawgs, you see... when i asked my husband if he has any special ideas, he said : i wonder where we can get some people...

this is a great picture, but i wish it could be bigger, it's much too small to fully appreciate... still, the expression on the dog's face is irresistible... you should try to use up to the 640 dimension allowed on the longer side and lower to the 150K limit with jpeg compression... 6.
