new york, new york (jeter at the plate, rodriguez on deck)by tomzinhoComment: 176 entries, and maybe 5 that attempted to show anything to do with the culture. Funny, my guide book goes about 50/50 for shots of scenery compared to shots of culture awareness. DPC is a homogenized community. Majority rules here. 20th isn't bad, but in my contest you were in the top 5. Congratulations on a high finish. russ |

Chess Proportionsby s4nd3r99Comment: I've come to decide that this is the best in show. Good luck!!! I would crop out that tiny hint of the king that is visible tho the left of the center pawn. It's just a tad distracting. Of course that's not possible for the rules of this competition. Just something to think about if you plan to take this image farther. I would be entering everplace that I could find. Great shot. 10 |

Spring lonelinessby cmartosComment: Very, very strong shot. One of my ribbon choices. Congratulations. I might have composed with the tree just slightly more to the left. In a competition that permitted spot editing, I would have removed some of the digital dust and reflective distractions in the dirt and front field. There's a distracting smudge in the sky about halfway up to the right of the tree. Good luck!!! 9 |

Concrete Proportionsby DonatienComment: One of the strongest compositions of the contest, even though I don't want an apartment anywhere near. Contratulations on a fantastic urban theme. I'm wondering about just the hint of water in the lower right. I find myself wanting more or less, not quite sure. I think that I might have cropped a little tighter. I'm also finding myself wanting to know more about the skyline above. I think I might have traded the water below, for more of the vista above. Very nice shot. Good luck!!! |

Painting the Corners by toddheadComment: A ribbon winner in my competition. Good luck! I have the tiniest of suggestions. Use clean ball. jajaja. I feel just a bit out of balance with the pitchers hand overlapping the border, but not foot. I might try to keep them both inside frame, or both encroachiing. Normally, I am not a fan of borders, but I think you have used one very effectively tying in your great title, and illustrating your concept. Just great work. 9 |

Facing immensity by acquaresegoneComment: One of my favorites in the competition. Good luck!!! Normally I would argue with your placement of the people so low in the frame. But in this case I think it only adds to your drama, and the proportion of this monolyth. I just think it's great. I'm chearing for you for a ribbon. 9 |

Front Yardby karmatComment: A very relaxing and attractive shot. Very similar to last weeks blue ribbon. I have high hopes for you. As far as advanced digital editing goes, the blown out whites and the absolute dead gray/blue tones in the sky need repaired. I would select out the entire sky, and paint in a blue one with some happy white clouds. While the broken bench adds character to the scene, it doesn't help me to feel like I want to sit there to enjoy this wonderful overlook. And since I'm assuming that you have included the bench to create exactly that emotion, you should fix the bench. Take out the broken board, and patch in a replacement. Very nice image. 9 |
