The Icky Sticky Frogby SimplicityComment: Nice photo, nice model. I wish I had such a model at home. My only complain: why did you chopped up the finger? I still like it so I will give it a 10. |

Many Colorsby FullyFocusedComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
In general, I find your photo nice and pleasant. But I am sure you want to know why it didn't do better. Don't we all? At first, I have to tell you that I love the texture of this vase. It catches the eye. This is good. What is not so good is the fact that you have tried so hard to distract my eye from its beauty by placing the flowers there. Kidding. But I wish you took away a few of the flowers. The pink ones. A darker background would have done better. Or anyway, a contrasting background. Red flowers on red background... You have to be a genius in lighting or you have to get lucky. I got lucky one time with a red subject on a red background. You also got a nasty pixelation on the curtain you used as background. When you try to enhance a photo in Photoshop, watch the negative effects you might get. Another thing, when you use silk flowers, make sure you don't have fallen flowers, empty steams, like you have on the right just above the vase. Not unless you intend the effect, you have something to say by that.
For your first submission I think you did wonderful. Keep trying. You will only get better.
Best regards,

The Plots Thickenby channeledComment: Greetings from The Critique Club
The death seems infinite indeed. It is a good choice for the challenge.
The nice, saturated colors prevent the photo from looking sad as you
choose to see the infinite side of it with relaxation. It would have been nice if you had cropped a bit from the top of the picture and make those colors disappear as they limit the infinity of the scene on a close look.
My eyes are looking for a strong point of interest but they can't find much. Trying to be faithfully to the subject of the challenge you have sinned by not choosing one particular subject to stand out more than the rest. Without it, the composition it's just saying: "Repetition... Continuity..." It is a bit boring. The colorful flowers are too far
to represent the attraction of the picture. I wish you could find a closer bouquet and took the shot from a different angle, avoiding the distracting string for the sake of the image.
The rest is good and it was a pleasure to comment on your photo. Not that it was an easy one to comment.
Congratulation on the good finish and keep up the good work!
Regards,
Elena

Time can smooth all rough spotsby joannadivaComment: Greetings from The Critique Club
Water flowing past rocks... Good subject for the challenge. It has an infinite continuity.
I like the contrast between the softened water, like a smooth white fabric and the sharply focused stone in the left. I think that in general, the blurred water is loosing most of its charm, but here it works just fine as a replacement of flowing time.
I would say that a bit faster shutter speed would have prevent the apparition of the blown out spot on the water surface. Also, I would have tried to insert in the composition something to stand out a bit more, to add more drama.
Is still a good picture and I want to congratulate you on the very good finish. Keep up the good work!
