The challenge topic was romance, not love. I can see how this image might portray love, but romance is too much of a stretch. I think that I would have preferred to see the white balance adjusted to make the napkin white.

The non-level horizon is distracting. A shallower DoF would have helped to isolate your subjects.

The expression on the model's face seems rather emotionally vacant, which detracts from an otherwise well done image. A catchlight in the girl's eyes might have been an improvement.

I strongly dislike the border. Since the people are the intended subject, cropping out some of the larger birds from the top right would probably have improved the image. There even appears to be a convenient horizontal section free of birds that you could have used as a cropping point.

Based on the comfort that these two show with one another I wouldn't doubt that they're romantically involved, but the image seems to convey a feeling of affection rather than overt romance.

The setup appears to have had a lot of thought put into it, but the girl looks too self-conscious to let this image feel as intimate as it might have. Adding a soft, diffused light behind the model would have helped to separate her from the background.

It doesn't feel like much effort was spent on this image. If you had found an interesting angle to shoot this from or done something noteworthy with the DoF I'd be more inclined to like it. As it is, this just feels like a quick snapshot. Adding some artifact of human presence would help to create a more personal connection to the viewer. As currently composed it feels about as personal as an ATM wishing me a nice day.

This flower is well shot; the beads of water are a nice touch. Boosting the saturation of the green somewhat would probably have complemented the color of the flower. I would have preferred to see the DoF centered a little better; it seems like it's on the dew drops in the center of the frame, which is one of the less interesting portions of the flower. On most cameras you can press the shutter button down half-way to get the focus to lock, then re-compose to move that area to some uncentered location. Flower shots are so common that they tend to fare rather poorly with the voters; good luck on this one.

The fisheye feel of this image is distracting and seems to compete too much with the intended subject. A shallower DoF would have helped to drop a lot of the clutter out of the background.
