Colours in this are stunning. I like the silhouette of the tree, and how the border compliments it. I'm not a fan of the electricity pylon in the background and the tilted horizon... perhaps a different crop might have helped to eliminated these... just a thought. Colours are brilliant though, and I love the streaks of light coming through the clouds.

A good solid image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint, it is an intersting image but of less than universal appeal. The over dark tree and foreground against a vivid sky negatively impacts the image. A good entry into the challenge.

I love the lighting in this but I think a closer crop on top and bottom would have emphasized the shape of the path of the green leaves more.

This is a seriously compelling image on the theme ΓΆ€“ as your title suggests ΓΆ€“ of conservation (in the biological sense, not the environmental), transformation and rebirth. I've spent longer looking at this than at any other image in the challenge, and I'm sure to look some more after the results are published. Alas I'll have to dig pretty deep to find it, but you will no doubt be expecting that. The pitiless, probing slash of light and the strange blue reflection give this photograph a kind of forensic character that adds to the suggestion of autopsy and enquiry. Top 5 for me.

the line of colorful leaves and how the others are brown and decaying is an interesting hook for the image - i just wish the right side were not so blown
