Hello from the critique club....

This shot to me does not scream pastels. That being said, I am sure that your score suffered from the DNMC voters. Now on to the pic. The actual pic itself I think is good. I like what you did with the lighting. I am going to have to give that a try sometime. For this shot I like that the vase is centered and that the background is pitch black. I really do like this shot....just not in this challenge. Happy shooting.

If I saw this outside the challenge the word "pastel" would never cross my mind. "Muted", yes. "Pastel", no. Otherwise lovely.

I don't feel that much creative thought was applied in taking this photo. Would you print and frame this image on your wall. I always try to imagine that as a general rule for critiquing any of my own images...

I like the reflections, but the composition seems cluttered, with lines (the green grass) that pull my eyes away from the frame.

I would suggest maybe cropping this a little tighter as there are so many reflections that compete for my attention. The point where the tip of the feather breaks the water makes for a lovely detail, I'd like to hone in on it.

Maybe the deer can read? Nice timing to get this, but the lighting is pretty harsh and the image is too bright overall.
