I think the pattern challenge is actually diminished by the texture of the rust. Not that it diminishes this shot. I really, really, really like what you have done here. The angle from left to right, top to bottom, is different. Most people would have gone the other way, or taken this on the horizontal. The rust does add visual interst and I think that overall this is wonderful photography.

I'm not sure if it is a bit soft or if there is just not enough contrast, but something seems to be missing in this shot. Maybe messing with curves a bit will make the image more striking. I think a wide angle shot of a baby sleeping where the whole crib is visible may be an interesting shot to try with the proper lighting. I think it might give more of a sense of how small he/she is, rather than just placing a doll next to him/her. I don't have any access to babies, so I can't try this myself, just something to think about...5
