It's a little overexposed IMHO. You could have tried underexposing and then using a shadow/highlights tool when post processing to bring the details of the tree out

a tangle of branches, a chain for some unknown purpose, a bright and many colored sky - the light seems to play nicely on the bark, but the image seems too static and does not easily convey odd to me

The sky is really blown out here and the barn feels a little out of focus. If it was possible to get inside, I'll bet some of the old framing beams might have had some good angles to try to shoot and may have not been so bright for you.
This is just a simple suggestion, please don't think I'm criticizing your photographer ability here. -BB
