Beautiful butterfly and I like the composition. I wish the light was a little less flat.

Sadly, this was indeed my (very) old farm house on Friday night. Good news is that all humans and animals were safe by the end of the evening.

There was significant damage to the house (originally built in 1750), but it can be repaired. Perhaps the scariest thing of all is that they could not determine exactly what started it. We had 5 fire inspectors investigate and they all agreed it was not caused by anything electric. A few months ago I had two trees professionally removed from right in front of the house. We then used a stump grinder to grind down the stumps and there was a resulting 4-6 inch layer of wood chips where the trees used to be. Their best guess is that given the right combination of rain and wind and sun you can have spontaneous combustion of wood chips or mulch and that’s probably what started it.

Thank goodness for all of the fire crews (12 trucks!) who responded. Particularly sweet was watching one fireman bring my two turtles down in a bucket from the second floor. There were two cats inside at the time too and they hid under furniture until the end of the evening, when we were able to safely locate and remove them. I am also incredibly grateful to whoever called 911 because the tenant (who lived in the house) wasn’t home when the fire started and I was in a garage apartment on the back of the property and didn’t hear a thing.

Nice picture. I would probably enhance blacktones/contrast a bit and crop of the lower part with the green patch, it draws attention away and does not add anything.
