I like the natural lighting from the back/side. He's got a great Christmas morning expression. I also like the bokeh from the Christmas tree, and the darkness on the right side of the photo.

What a cutie! And what an artistic presentation of him. At Christmas. His expression -- soaking it all in -- is perfect for the scene with the Christmas tree and the pretty light just on the tree and the boy. Makes me want Christmas back again :)

Really nice candid shot; he seems totally focused on the task at hand. I like the B&W conversion and the side/back lighting. I like the darker area to the right but wonder if a bit cropped off there would keep the focus on your nephew.

B&W conversion is spot on as is the compostition and exposure. Much more than a family shot, the oof focus book/cd rack is great on the negative right sde and the bokeh on the christmas tree, well, thank-you 50/f1.8.

Excellent composition and exposure and a great image to frame and display. So much more than just a family album shot. The only thing I might suggest you change would be that you closed that o-so-large aperture down to maybe 5.6 then the bg would remain the same and your niece would be tack sharp as well (unless this shot was taken to have Mrs Dawson as the main subject).
