Objects in Mirror are Closer Than They Appearby sh0rtyComment by sh0rty: I was shooting the boring/predictable railroad tracks and roads for this entry...when I was riding my motorcycle the morning before the end of the chalange, and looking in the rear view mirror, saw an interesting perspective on the theme! :-)
Could not get the DOF right. :-( That was my best shot of over 20, the only one where the writing on the mirror was readable and the reflection was in focus (lots of shots with the mirror in focus, or the reflection in focus, but this was the closest to getting both). After playing with an online DOF calculator I realized my mistake, I had the zoom lens at 70mm...there is no way to get the right DOF at that focal length and distance, even at F/22. Had I gone 18mm it probably would have turned out (but I would have had to crop to get the same composition).
I've had my D70s for just a few weeks (first dSLR), it is one of the first shoots that I set everything manualy.
Not bad for my first entry (IMHO), had I got the mirror in focus I think I would have done much better. I think I'll try that shot again some time.
