I really like the color tones here, very classic. You have awesome curls too, which makes this pose work even better. The black background works well, but I do think the composition would be stronger if there were more negative space on the right of the image (right as I am looking at it- I think SJCarter and I are saying the same thing).

Lovely pose. Your hair is great and fits the pose. Getting that catchlight in your left eye helped in adding interest to this sp. It's my first attempt at this sp stuff too and i'm sure we'll both come out of this as better photographers.

I can't give any advice because I have not a clue about how to do these. I really like the color tone in this. Also your pose reminds me of someone who has just heard her favorite song on the radio and she's thinking about doing a little dance. :)

For a first one, this is a great self portrait. I'd be interested to know details, such as how you lit it, plus information on the shot (f-stop and so forth). The light is nice and soft-shadowed, and it makes for a very classic portrait. Nicely done.

Aww, you're pretty :D I really like the light with the black background - it simplifies the portrait that could have been messy with all the arms in there if there had been a clustered background too. Also, the looking up and out of the frame is quite good - I can't help but look to the top of the screen XD But it creates movement in the picture and makes it more than 'just a pretty face', you end up building a story around the picture.
