Notre Dame de Parisby tiby_dicuComment by rhadshaw: I quite like Notre Dame; I have a similar shot from the other end looking back towards the organ and the rose window on the front of the cathedral.
Unfortunately, your image is a little asymmetrical in it's composition. While that is not necessarily a bad thing, in this case, you're just asymmetrical enough to be noticeable, but not enough to be clearly deliberate. It kind of looks sloppy instead of a concious artistic choice.
Also, your digital post-processing looks a little overdone. I know how wide the dynamic range is for this scene ... it is challenging. You've done well not to blow out the stained glass windows, but I think you've gone overboard on lightening the remainder of the scene, which has introduced a fair amount of noise and artifacts into the image. |

Notre Dame de Parisby tiby_dicuComment by Citadel: This image has potential however I feel the processing has marred it somewhat. Saturation was pushed too much and it looks oversharpened. |

gas lampby tiby_dicuComment by retiredPhil: Like the dimensions; it gives the heat from the lamp someplace to go. Isn't this an oil lamp vice a gas lamp? Picky detail. |

gas lampby tiby_dicuComment by risenphoenixster: I think you did a great job on the lamp itself, but the niche/window/shelf that it is on takes away from it. It's so dark behind it, but the wall is so white it's distracting. I think you could have cropped a lot of the extra window out, changed the angle slightly, and it would make a huge difference in making the lamp 'pop'. |
