Why?by DaveSMComment by dahkota: I like the lighting and the pose and the slight desat of colors. I would have given this a 6 as it is. If the face had been a little more in focus (it looks out of focus here rather than soft focus) I would have given it a 7. I think it meets the challenge. |

Why?by DaveSMComment by magenmarie: Just read your post...thought I would leave a comment... I think that it's an interesting shot. She definitely has an intruiging look on her face. I think the reason it got voted lower is because her eyes are in the shadows, and her face is a bit out of focus. Hope this helps a bit. ~Magen |

Jules Deelder's Pure passion for Jazzby DaveSMComment by pawdrix: I'd say you missed the essence of the Challenge while your shots does meet it in anoutside way.
If I took a picture of a guy that I know, who lied all the time...never told the truth and titled my shot "A Pure Bullshitter". Sure, it may be true and he may be pure in that but it's not what the Challenges voters were looking for. |

Jules Deelder's Pure passion for Jazzby DaveSMComment by cpanaioti: I think the image does say 'Pure Passion (for Jazz)' however I think the pole going through the man's head and the limited contrast between the head and the background have let this image down. |

Enjoying the showby DaveSMComment by pawdrix: The subject is a little too dark. The ground around him is well lit but he's shadowed. Not the best lighting balance but a nice candid none-the-less. |

Enjoying the showby DaveSMComment by cpanaioti: This is a nice capture of the person's joy, however their head blends into the person standing next to him. Improvement would be achieved if there was separation between the main subject and the background. |

Why?by DaveSMComment by pawdrix: Her pose is an uncomfortable one, especially for such a tight crop. Her face which I assume is the main part of the subject is in the shadow. In other words the lighting balance dioesn't really work IMHO. |

Why?by DaveSMComment by cpanaioti: I like the desat and the mood you explain you're trying to impress on viewers I think comes through a bit though maybe a bit too subtle. Once thing that would probably improve the image is to increase the contrast. This would bring more attention to the face and the model's expression. |
