It's great that you got in close. That's often a very good technique to use as it eliminates distracting elements and focuses the viewer's attention. A more reflective subject probably would have resulted in a better score.

Looks to be beyond "wounded" to me. :D Nothing personal, but it's a little close to being kind of disgusting. I know it's only a bug, but still... As for the technicals, I think the composition is a little too tight, and the lighting is a bit harsh on the left. Color saturation is ok, getting some yellow bleed over onto the bugs shell casing. All of the above is JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge.
