The Painterby MonicagdComment by Haneck: Interesting - I like all the bright colors and swirls. THe lighting looks like it could use some work though... or maybe there's just too much yellow in the picture. I don't know, but this is a cool idea! GOod job! |

Autumn Colorsby MonicagdComment by JuliBoc: The background is a very nice complement for the flower. I like the depth of field. I see Jutilda suggested using Neat Image to reduce the noise. Someone gave me that suggestion when I started at DPC, and using it has helped my scores. I don't mind the noise in this image, but a lot of the DPC voters deduct points for noise. |

In A Different Wayby MonicagdComment by JuliBoc: I gave this an 8 during voting. I like the mood, the composition, and light on the front of the crosses. The different cross in the foreground added interest. I agree with some of the other comments suggesting black and white. In case you haven't seen it yet, here is a link to an excellent tutorial for converting photos to b&w. |

Wounded Ladybirdby MonicagdComment by JuliBoc: You got a lot of good scores on this photo. I think the sadness for the injured ladybug caused some voters to rate the photo lower than it deserved. It met the challenge well with, as you said, spots on the bug and the bug itself being a red spot on the flower.
This was almost a great photo. If you follow the rule of thirds when cropping, it would help a lot. If you still have the original photo, imagine the image is divided in thirds vertically and horizontally (like a tic tac toe frame). Crop the photo so that the ladybug is on the intersection point of two of the dividing lines. I think the lower left "power point" would be a good spot for the bug. |
