I spy with my little eye...by ToadieComment by ambaker: Critique Club Review:
Any more macro, and this would have been micro.
Color, saturation and hue are excellent. Focus is good and depth of field holds up well. At this level of magnification it is hard to know if it could have been sharper. Some of your lower scoring voters may have taken softness of the structures as a softness of focus.
If this is a self portrait of your eye, you did a heck of job getting a capture this useable.
I like the red and the black. I might like it a little better, a little brighter. It almost borders on too dark for me. At the same time I like the deep black of the pupil against the iris.
I'm not a huge border fan, but I think a thin border here, using colors from the image might help also.
Excellent capture and I have no idea why you did not score better. Perhaps some people are squeamish about this much detail in a body part. I just don't know. I could see this hanging in a gallery, or used in a magazine advertisement.
Excellent photo, you should have been in or near the top ten with this one. |

malta-church.jpgby ToadieComment by Germaine: I really, really like this picture. On one level, I can accept the glow/halo around the chapel as an artistic statement, but I have to say, I think I'd like the shot better without it. This is a beautiful, minimalist composition, and it doesn't need any gimmicks.
P.S. The little bench at the side of the building is an added treat. |

Tysonby ToadieComment by hihosilver: Wow. This cat is beautiful and feisty with very striking eyes. Your photo brings out all of these features very well! It's unfortunate that the lovely background on the right side couldn't have been easiy created on the left side. The blending of the white light into the white fur somewhat detracts from the photo. But, the power of expression overshadows these (IMHO) minor issues. 9. |

Sweet Toothby ToadieComment by Bear_Music: I wouldn't call this "unrelated", actually; for me, opposites are definitely "related" conceptually, for example, and a soft drink has a definite relationship to the need for dental work. But I'm not gonna nitpick this, cool shot. |
