Regarding your photo:

Composition
The image flows very well, I really like the bokeh on the background.
The way the petals are just hanging over the bottom of the image is very peaceful and tranquil.

Technique
I imagine it must be hard to get all in focus at f/5.6, you were probably on the long end of your lens? Maybe some ISO could be sacrificed in order to get a smaller aperture and get everything in focus.

Processing
Just as a lot of people said, the tones are so vibrant, and the colour rendition is very good.
Lovely whites and yellows.

Effective, very low profile but it did the trick.

Overall, I think you were downvoted because of the flower issue. Although it's not just a flower, it becomes a great part of the subject matter. The winner is also a macro but without flowers, so I guess that you could have scored higher if it was all in focus and you didn't have such a big flower in your shot.

Wonderful tones and nice composition with background element echoing the foreground. I also like the warm reds / oranges contrasting with the greens. Would have liked to see a bit sharper focus on the bee's eye. That said, one of the strongest images in this challenge. Well done.

A nicely done image, and I am judging it on its own merits; however, my interpretation of "Veggie Tales" was a bit different. I was looking more for "scenes" created from veggies and fruits.
