On the edgeby ofjordComment by C-town driver: Interesting shot. The subject contrasts nicely with the setting. Wonder if a longer shutter exposure to emphasize the water flow may have given a nice effect? |

Beware of the Catby ofjordComment by FranziskaLang: Now there's an unusual photo. Usually photos of cats (or even animals in general) work best for me if you can see the eyes, and they are in sharp focus. Here, the eyes aren't even visible, and still, I got stopped by the thumbnail and wanted to have a closer look.
I like the bold blue sky and green grass plus the black cat (and not just because I have one myself). All intense colors. The angle is fantastic, not just because it provides an unusual view of the cat, but also because it ensures there's just sky behind the head and the shapes are much more separated than they might otherwise have been.
The title rounds things off nicely.
The only little nitpick I have is that little patch of burnt-out fur right where the collar is, but it's not big so not very distracting.
Great shot!
I hope you don't mind me posting this ... with all the discussions going on about how to comment and where to post, I thought I'd start browsing the low-comment photos from time to time and pick one and comment on it. :) |

Yawn... My favourite time of the year!by ofjordComment by faidoi: Wow this shot is incredible. Composition is really good. Subjects are interesting. The tutor and the yawning girl. The light behind the girl is a tiny bit distracting, otherwise is is an awesome shot. |

Yawn... My favourite time of the year!by ofjordComment by kyrielle: Study session! The composition and mood of this photo are great. That said, I think your lighting has done you a huge disservice. The light behind the girl's head has dimmed her face and the whole scene somewhat, and brings out a piece of the background to leave us wondering, when I think it might have been better left dark, and nothing to distract us from the studying. At the same time, the foreground light, while it brings out the faces of the subjects well enough, is blindingly bright itself and has glared out all or most details of the book or notebook in front of the boy, and also of his nearer sleeve - you can even only barely see the crease at the elbow.
I think I'd have tried turning off the background light, and moving the foreground light out of the shot and/or finding a softer foreground light. |
