Simplicity Rose Budby skulinsComment by Tygerr: You need to learn how to correctly re-size your images for the challenges. Your resampling has come out all blocky, see EddyG's Tutorial.
As far as the actual photo is concerned, perhaps the composition is just a bit too busy, and the main subject gets a bit lost in all that background. The lighting (I presume on-board flash) is also a bit to harsh. |

Simplicity Rose Budby skulinsComment by mk: This photo is suffering from a few things. First and foremost, it seems to have quite a bit of artifacting, most likely from the method you've used to resize. I suspect someone has already mentioned it, but if not, take a look at this tutorial on preparing your images for challenges. //www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=26
Secondly, it looks like you used an on-camera flash and that it gave you quite harsh lighting in the foreground.
Lastly, the background is quite distracting and unfortunately not out of focus enough to help support the subject of your photo. A wider aperture and more distance between your subject and background can help with that. |
