A Universe Inside My Glassby fstopstigmataComment by emorgan49: It looks like mold on coffee, I didn't get that it was beer, I thought you were referring to the microcosms of micro organisms and that interpretation makes it quite unappealing. The large area of out of focus handle is perhaps necessary to identify it as a mug but contributes nothing to the composition but distraction. Perhaps a different angle would have worked better? The bright table (?) is also a distraction. Is this negative enough? |

A Universe Inside My Glassby fstopstigmataComment by DjFenzl: Since you called for constructive comments...
I find the reflections too harsh and the background very distracting. The main subject it supposed to be the foam in the glass but it's over powered by all the other elements. The glass handle being so prominent in the picture doesn't help either. Also it looks more like a "Oh look at that" snapshot kind of picture rater than a well thought out carefully taken picture.
I think the concept is excellent and could have done very well had just a bit more attention been paid to it's surrounding environment.
Edit: I said foam as if it was beer, the consensus seems to be it's mold - so foam, mold whatever - I was referring to the actual "cosmos" Message edited by author 2006-08-05 12:10:40. |

A Universe Inside My Glassby fstopstigmataComment by cryingdragon: It looks like mold growing in the glass. Also, you have what appears to be your "univerise" in the upper part of the mug, but there are other things floating around. Would have been nicer without those in there. Also, there is a big glare on the handle of the glass. And the shinyness/blurriness of the table takes away from the shot. |

A Universe Inside My Glassby fstopstigmataComment by Bear_Music: My first reaction is that the composition is awkward and the tonal values are muddy. On second glance, I am distracted by the many specular reflections and distinctly put off by the foam circle in the glass, which looks like nothing so much as a growing colony of mold :-)
The OOF handle on the left is a real problem here. Besides being OOF, the cropping of it is so arbitrary, especially the truncated curve at the bottom. I'm not impressed with the tabletop material either, which looks downright bilious to me.
So my overall impression is distinctly "blecch", which I gather is what you're asking me to say :-) Be careful what you ask for! |
