I think this has great potential. The lighting seems a little harsh, or perhaps there needs to be a stronger fill light to the right to soften some of the strong shadows (I only have one strobe right now and it's a problem I have time and again). I think you've captured the details in her face well, but really crisp eyes would set this off nicely for me. I'm also curious about the blur as it doesn't look even as such, which makes me wonder if it was added in post processing... just my thoughts, I'm certainly not great at portraits so I hope this doesn't sound harsh.

A hush went over the bush, and Professor McCreary went still. As the hairs prickled on his neck, he slowly turned around. His breath caught in his throat. There she was! The elusive Goggled Yuppie! The Professor crouched down slowly, to get to eye level and hopefully show himself as less of a threat. He excitedly began to jot in his notebook as the Yuppie slowly circled him, looking curious, but non-threatening. Such as it was when the Professor was taken completely by surprise, the sudden attack coming with no warning, no suggestion of body language.

He didn't even have time to scream.
