::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

Interesting to do a critique on your image but it is difficult if you don't give us any information in your photographers comments. When we do a critique, we go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting.

First Impression - the most important one:
personally not big on the doggie cat pics, but this one really works well ... love the reflections which feed us his message.

Composition:
I like the way the dog seems to lie on the horizontal thirds here .. quite interesting.

Subject:
meets the challenge ... does it ok ... in fact does it really well!

Technical (Colour and light):
It seems a little washed out .. this may be due to the contrast etc ... but I don't know what you did.

To grow its vote?:
I think that it is finding a subject which appeals to more than one section of the community ... this is a good shot with a solid result.

Summary:

Good shooting .. you are learning well keep it up!
If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

This one to me is an "almost". It's a poignant subject and looks like something we'd see in an article in the paper or a magazine.

However, it seems to lack a little focus and the washed out colors don't do it for me. Don't know if the colors were done that way on purpose, but they aren't my fave.

(at first I thought the cup and taped up bottle over her shoulder were lenses and I was going to ding you for setting up the shot and not using very good props!! ;-) )

good photo but I wonder if the color depth could have been a little deeper - everything looks bland to me. would it be possible to bump them up a little bit to give it a bit more punch? on the other hand, the neutral colors don't give any level of exictement and create a feeling of despair - not sure if that's what you were going for.

Great idea and colour. However, the flash area is overblown on my screen.
