Greetings from the Critique Club!

First off, a very well-seen capture in that you knew exactly where to look for the setting sun to help illuminate your subject. Problem is, the bridge is supposed to be the subject, not the setting sun. And as the bridge is virtually invisible, there is nothing for people to see the ugly/beauty within. Composition obeys the rules of thirds but the lack of light obscures any details.

I am somewhat bewildered by your settings. A very high shutter speed couple with a very low ISO are more suitable for shooting a fast-moving subject, like a bird in flight, in bright daylight. For a sunset shot of a bridge that has no lights at all on it, you want a tripod, a relatively high ISO (start around 500 and go up from there), and a very slow shutter speed...as in slow enough to require the use of a tripod, in order to bring out the detail in this bridge. Even if you had to shoot a little bit fast so as to not get bleached out by the sunset, you would have only had to wait a few minutes for the light to soften.

An appealing image that meets the challenge

I like your image Carlos, very appealing. I would say for this challenge brief the top half of your lovely landscape works very well to the extent that although the foreground wall is well composed it adds too much contrast to the final image without this the image works very well. Alternatively, and a better proposition, you could have dodged the foreground to reduce the contrast of the wall so that it blends more subtly with the rest of the scene.

I've put some thought into this and finally decided that the image is flawed if only because of the depth of field - composition could have used some more thought.

An interesting location and good overall composition with the buddha well placed. Looking at your crooked horizon I would say you have followed the challenge brief. I concur with your comments about the lack of people they are almost easily completely missed which is rather unfortunate. For me, the modern wooden shed in the midst of the sacred setting just completely ruins the whole effect, it might have been better to go for a portrait crop and exclude it completely. Also the blown highlights of the sky detract from the end result. Thanks for your entry Carlos
