I'm not much for receiving or giving comments, but since Candids are
near and dear to my heart, I have decided to give comment on every entry
in this challenge.

Children are far too easy to get candids of in my opinion. They can be found doing all kinds of obscure things on a daily basis with little regard to what is around them or who. Their emotions, unlike adults, are not contained. With that said, I do like your photo, but it just doesn't have that kick for me I personally prefer to see in a candid. I prefer to see something out of the ordinary, something obscure, something that sparks more of an interest in seeing a none every day thing going on. The unexpected. The child is cute, and you did very well in using the b/w tones. But as a candid its a 3 vote for me.

Hi From the critique club.

Sorry I am writing this from work so no template to use.

First impression

This hits on a couple of different perspecitves - but if it is the boot in the stirrup I am meant to focus on I can not make it out clearly ... I am concerned that the black and white is overkill - but others don't seem to have mentioned this.

Subject

Meets the challenge - but as mentioned i think is a little on the dark side:)

Composition

Good this I really like ... cropping os the main of the beast is on thirds ... cool idea.

Brightness and technical stuff

I am not sure ... I like natural light .. always have .. but in this picture the boot itself is lost ...and I think the reason is the black adn white ... the contrasts in this don't make the boot pop - like it would against the natural colour of the horse.

Final note

I think this is cool. You did good and I know are going on to better and better pics.

Private message me if you wish any clarifications.

Nice idea. Backfocus shows sharp hoofprints, focus and more illumination on boot and stirrup would be better.

very flat, no real definition in the shadows. there is a lot of dead space on the right.
